Together with our client Anglo American, we have been developing the pre-stripping or pre-mining work at the Quellaveco project. The objective of this work is to excavate 45 million tons of waste for one year. Thus, the mine will be ready and prepared for copper extraction.
Since 2018, our client has placed its trust in the work we are carrying out at the Quellaveco project. Generating opportunities for women from Moquegua with the training program to become operators of 300-ton trucks. Currently, they operate 100% of the manned trucks, which are loaded with 36 and 60 m³ bucket capacity shovels.
We also worked on the "Upskill" program for all the people from Moquegua who joined us in the start-up of the construction of the access roads and mine development. Today, larger or "big mining" equipment is operating, such as chain tractors, wheeled tractors, motor graders, and auxiliary equipment for road wetting.
Finally, the operation of the first electric shovel at Quellaveco, together with modern cable management equipment in its operation, brought with it the start of the operation of autonomous trucks also of 300 tons, which interact with the trucks operated by the women in the mine's operator training program.
