On August 17th, MAPFRE, the well-recognized insurance company visited STRACON GyM´s facilities to officially recognize its good safety management and practices, which are implemented in all of STRACON GyM´s national projects. The jury assessed, among other factors, the elements of the Workplace Safety and Health Management System, as well as physical safety conditions according to the national legislation in force and international standards.
The ceremony was headed by our OHSE team, led by Area Manager David Taylor, and our CEO, Steve Dixon, who both received the award on behalf of STRACON GyM from Ramón Acuña (MAPFRE’s Deputy Commercial Director of Human Risks) and Julian Vidal (MAPFRE’s Large Accounts Director).
From other companies within the mining industry, MAPFRE recognized STRACON GyM with the “Safety Excellence Award 2017” for the third time in a row. This award recognizes the companies which stood out in 2016 by achieving outstanding performance in Workplace Safety and Health Management.
In Steve Dixon´s words, this recognition commits us to continuing living, day by day, under our OHSE mission: “All our employees back home, safe and sound, everyday”. In addition, David Taylor reaffirmed that our first value is Safety and that it is unacceptable for our employees to suffer injuries while they are performing their tasks.
MAPFRE encourages the company efforts to improve working conditions and reduce accident rates. For that reason, these recognitions motivate and commit the STRACON GyM team to reflect on the safety performance and the continuous improvement aspects of their management, to achieve the goal of zero incidents in its operations.
